About Broseley

Broseley was once an industrial powerhouse of the Severn Gorge: it gave its name to the world-famous Broseley clay tobacco pipes, made and shipped from here for centuries, and was home to ironmaster John Wilkinson, who launched the world's first iron boat nearby in 1787. The town's brick and tile works helped build the wider Gorge, and the Birchmeadow playing fields are said to sit over some of the oldest wagonway railways in Britain.
